I am one of the
producers at the said station. In the story and it reads as if we are living it
up at the station Pittsburgh Community Television.

they come.
We had had increases in
costs of producers membership dues, costs of classes and other trainings. There
are still equipment failures that the station cannot afford to fix. There is a
shortage of staff.
There is even a cost to
have your program on a DVD. 12 dollars a burn, Electronic Field Production
classes 50 dollars Intro to Final Cut Pro X classes 75 dollars. Studio
Production 25 dollars. Lights, Camera, Action! 15 dollars.
The producers have had
many hardship fee increases and this reduction of funding will hit producers as
well as viewers hard. The Bureau of Cable Communications does not produce
everyday as do the producers and staff this being the case.
City residents will be
losing access to programs that cover education, entertainment, music, sports,
informative, and vital information.
The report above does
not reflect this and I submit to you that it is an incomplete work at best as
well as being a disservice to the residents of Pittsburgh.
You say more Pittsburgh
residents should become active in the political scene? Well, another fact is
that many of the programs including mine urge residents of Pittsburgh to be
politically active not only in city politics, but on a county, state and
federal level.

With the report that
you have written it is fair to say that you hardly if ever watch most of the
shows on Pittsburgh Community Television or even mine. Humanity Matters.
You should tune into
and examine what fellow Pittsburgh residents who are producers are producing on
this station before you think about taking away money from fellow Pittsburgh
residents and giving it back to local government that does not engage the
public and not perform as well executed services such as the producers at
Pittsburgh Community Television consistently do.
The Bureau of Cable
Communication should indeed have funding, but this should come from an increase
in funding from Comcast and Verizon for their rights of usage and to be a
franchise in the City Of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The city gave them such
a sweet deal that it was an insult to every Pittsburgh resident. It amounted to
a few pennies on the dollar. Raising those fees would help Pittsburgh Community
Television Producers as well as Bureau of Cable Communications.
What must not be done
are measures that would harm the station's survival, harm the producers
financially and in the end harm fellow Pittsburgh residents as the station goes
off the airwaves or the costs to produce programming becomes out of reach for
your fellow Pittsburgh residents who not only receive no money from their
programming, but in fact have a financial loss each time we produce any
programming.

I would favor a
producers only grant (s) to offset the costs of funding, these funds should be
handled by a third party and one of the
Pre - requisites should
state that you must have been consistently producing programming for at least
one year in order to meet eligibility requirements.
